Oregon Independent Contractors
Overview
The information is not a statement of public policy. It is a summary of considerations based on legal decisions in the state of Oregon. No single factor determines when a worker is an independent contractor.
 
Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 670.600 outlines criteria that apply to:
The person performing the service must meet all the criteria of ORS 670.600 to be considered an independent contractor for these programs.
 
ORS 670.600 applies only to the Oregon Department of Revenue, Employment Department, Construction Contractors Board, and Landscape Contractors Board. These agencies require that the person performing the work must meet all the criteria of that law.
